Procuro me manter focado no trabalho e o grupo também.

Eu me mantive focado, trabalhando.

Me mantive focado, trabalhando. Me machuquei, recuperei, tive tempo melhor de recuperação.

Australia wait on Warner fitness

Pre-match training drills will determine whether or not David Warner has recovered enough from his groin strain

Pre-match training drills will determine whether or not David Warner can attempt to finish off Sri Lanka in the triangular series after setting Australia on the path to a 1-0 finals lead with a staunch 163 at the Gabba.Warner suffered a groin strain during the innings and did not field, later emerging to indicate his own doubts about whether he would be fit in time for the Adelaide Oval match. But he pulled up as well as could be expected on the team’s travel day from Brisbane, and on arrival at the team hotel resumed recovery work with the team’s physio Alex Kountouris.David Hussey spoke for the rest of the team when he expressed how much Warner was valued, particularly after he found the right gears for ODI success in his Brisbane innings, an affair more restrained than many of his Twenty20 efforts and even some Test match innings.”He’s going to have a fitness test tomorrow morning but we all hope he’s up and firing for it, it was a fantastic innings and all the boys are hoping he replicates that tomorrow,” Hussey said. “He’s an integral part of the team, opening batsman. If he comes out and produces another 150, that’d be fantastic for us and go a long way towards us achieving our goal and winning the series in two games.”Australia’s players were aware of how close they had come to letting Sri Lanka wriggle free to victory on Sunday night, and if any doubted it they were quickly brought into line by the captain Michael Clarke. Hussey reasoned that a greasy ball and the threat of rain had not helped, two obstacles far less likely to appear in Adelaide. He also acknowledged the shock value of Nuwan Kulasekara, who blazed 73 when many thought the match was done.”We know the conditions were a bit greasy and it was very hard to stand up for the fast bowlers, so if we can just execute our skills, practice our yorkers a bit more, I think we’ll go a long way towards winning the game,” Hussey said. “I thought we played three-fourth of the perfect game last night.”They did [surprise], particularly Kulasekara, he’s a bit of a fighter, doesn’t want to give his wicket away cheaply and he’s desperate to win games for his team. He struck the ball nicely, we were very lucky to see the back of him at the time, and we scraped over the line.”Apart from Warner, who if injured is most likely to be replaced by Peter Forrest, the fast bowlers James Pattinson and Ben Hilfenhaus are looking over their shoulders at the likely decision to recall Clint McKay, a slower but steadier option than either of the Test pacemen looked in Brisbane.”I think Clint’s performed very well throughout the series, not only against Sri Lanka but India as well,” Hussey said. “He’s one of the leading wicket-takers. So if the selection does come up I think Clint will do an exceptional job.”Apart from the fatigue of a long summer and the looming threat of a Sri Lankan side that is finding itself again after nearly a year of uncertainty and stagnation, Australia also face the obstacle of unbroken ground. Hussey reminded all that not every member of the squad had won an ODI trophy at home, the desire to do so building its own pressure.”This is a chance to win a series, not all of us have won series in Australia in ODIs,” he said. “So I think it is very important we actually close out the series tomorrow in a professional manner, play good, decent cricket and perhaps the perfect game.”Edited by Siddarth Ravindran

Richard Pybus has resigned from his current position as the head coach of Cape Cobras with immediate effect. Pybus was in charge of the Cape Town-based franchise for two seasons during which they won three titles.”There are a range of issues to do with the chief executive and the franchise that have undermined me as head coach and made my continued position untenable,” Pybus said. “I won’t be making any further media comment at this stage.”Although Cobras won this season’s Franchise 1-Day Cup, they failed to defend their first-class and Twenty20 titles. They also failed to qualify for the Champions League T20 after finishing fifth in the MiWay T20 Challenge. The Cobras chief executive Andre Odendaal and the board will discuss Pybus’ resignation at a meeting on Monday evening, after which they will issue a response.Pybus has had two stints as coach of Pakistan. He has previously coached the Titans franchise, based in Centurion, where he also enjoyed success. He also had a brief stint at Middlesex but made his name at Border, in the Eastern Cape, where he played an instrumental role in developing Mark Boucher.Edited by Devashish Fuloria

Clarke takes five in 75-run victory

Michael Clarke’s second five-wicket haul in Tests helped the Australians wrap up a 75-run victory and they took the series 2-0, despite some powerful striking from the West Indies captain Darren Sammy

The Report by Brydon Coverdale27-Apr-2012
Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsDarren Sammy fought hard but couldn’t prevent Australia from wrapping up a 2-0 series victory•AFPIn the end, the final day of the tour followed the same script as the rest of the series: West Indies fought hard and provided Australia with a few headaches, but their efforts came to nought. Instead, Michael Clarke’s second five-wicket haul in Tests helped the Australians wrap up a 75-run victory and they took the series 2-0, despite some powerful striking from the West Indies captain Darren Sammy. It took Australia two hours on the fifth morning to take the five wickets that remained after the critical breakthrough in the last over of the fourth day, when Shivnarine Chanderpaul was lbw. With each four and six that Sammy produced the West Indian fans dreamed of a famous win, but too much had been left to the lower order and a steady stream of wickets meant Sammy and the No.11 Shane Shillingford came together with 125 runs still needed.Their 50-run partnership was promising but ended when Sammy, on 61 from 51 balls, top-edged a sweep off the bowling of Nathan Lyon (3 for 87) and was caught at short fine leg, leaving the local hero Shillingford unbeaten on 31. The result might have been a little closer than the Australians wanted, but Clarke was thrilled to emerge from the series with a 2-0 victory, the rain-affected Trinidad Test having not allowed either team enough time to push for a win.Smart stats

Australia’s win is their seventh in Tests in the West Indies since 2000. Their last defeat in the West Indies was in Antigua in 2003 when West Indies chased a record 418.

Australia have now won 17 Tests against West Indies since 2000. This is the highest number of matches they have won in this period against any team.

Michael Clarke’s five-wicket haul is his second in Tests and first against West Indies. It is his second-best bowling performance, after the 6 for 9 in Mumbai in 2004.

Clarke became the fourth Australian captain (spinners only) to pick up a five-wicket haul against West Indies and the eighth overall. Allan Border is the only player to do so twice.

Darren Sammy’s strike rate of 119.60 is the highest for a score between 50 and 99 for a West Indian batsman against Australia. It is also the third-highest strike rate for a 25-plus score for Sammy.

Shane Shillingford’s 31 is the second-highest score by a West Indian No.11 batsman against Australia, next only to Ravi Rampaul’s 40 in Adelaide in 2009. Overall, it is the fifth-highest score by a West Indian No.11 batsman.

The win lifts Australia to third place in the ICC Test rankings with 112 points, while India slip to fourth rank with 111.

While Chanderpaul and Darren Bravo were occupying the crease on the fourth day it could easily have gone awry for Australia. But starting the fifth day with Narsingh Deonarine as the last specialist batsman at the crease having been joined by the wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh, who was about to lose his place to Denesh Ramdin for the upcoming tour of England, West Indies needed something miraculous. It didn’t come from Deonarine, who added only two to his overnight total before he pushed at a Clarke delivery and provided a return catch on 13. Baugh followed on 12 when he pulled Nathan Lyon hard and Ricky Ponting at short midwicket showed immaculate reflexes to hold on to a difficult catch. But better was to come from the Australians in the field.Clarke could do no wrong with the ball and he carried that touch with him into the slip cordon, thrusting his left hand low to the ground to snap up a brilliant catch when Kemar Roach (2) edged Lyon. In the next over Clarke collected his fifth wicket for the first time in a Test innings since his 6 for 9 in Mumbai in 2004 when Ravi Rampaul skied a catch to long on.Clarke finished with 5 for 86 and took himself out of the attack after copping some punishment from Sammy, who was murderous through midwicket and long-on. Sammy struck four fours and three sixes and had excellent support from Shillingford, who hit six boundaries, but in the end the target was just too tall. The Australians can now head home, or in many cases to the IPL, and enjoy a six-month break from Test cricket having capped off a strong first year under the captaincy of Clarke. West Indies head to England with a similar squad – Baugh and Kraigg Brathwaite were dropped though – and must find a way to play five strong days in a Test instead of two or three. Had they managed that over the past few weeks, an already entertaining series could have become a thriller.

Tendulkar's finger injury still not healed

Sachin Tendulkar’s return to the Mumbai Indians squad for today’s match against Deccan Chargers looks uncertain, after he said on Twitter that the finger injury he sustained in the opening game against Chennai Super Kings did “not look good”.Tendulkar posted a photograph of the injured finger on his right hand and tweeted around noon on Monday.Tendulkar had to retire hurt on 16 after being struck on the glove by Doug Bollinger in the ninth over of the IPL’s opening game between Mumbai Indians and Super Kings. He then missed Mumbai Indians’ first home game, against Pune Warriors, and if he does not play today his next game could be against Rajasthan Royals on April 11.Just before the start of IPL 2012, Tendulkar had handed over the leadership of the Mumbai Indians to Harbhajan Singh, because he wanted to take a “break from the responsibility of captaincy”. Harbhajan had led Mumbai Indians to the Champions League T20 title last year and was an automatic choice to take over the captaincy.

Hamilton-Brown powers Surrey to position of strength

Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown hit a counterattacking 89 to give his side a second-innings lead of over 300 against Sussex

George Dobell at The Oval06-Apr-2012
ScorecardThere was a time, not so long ago, when teams would have reacted to a tense situation and testing conditions with a straight bat and obdurate defence. Not any more. These days batsmen are more likely to bash their way out of trouble. The days of players such as Geoff Boycott, Alan Hill or Peter Roebuck batting all day for an unbeaten 80 have all but gone. As, up to a point, have the days when you expected matches to end in a draw. Attack, it appears, has become the best form of defence. The game has changed. It is, in many ways, more entertaining, but it is hard not to conclude that something – a certain level of craft – might have all but disappeared. Whether these encounters are preparing players for the rigours of Test cricket is highly debatable. Few batsmen will have much joy trying to hit the likes of Saeed Ajmal or Dale Styen out of an attack. Here, however, Rory Hamilton-Brown took this match away from Sussex on the second afternoon with a blistering innings. When he came to the crease the game was still, just about, in the balance. Surrey had just lost three for three in nine balls and had a lead of 123 with six wickets in hand. After the early loss of Jacques Rudolph, drawn into playing away from his body and guiding one to point, Mark Ramprakash was run out, the victim of a direct hit from Amjad Khan at mid-on with only one stump to aim at, as he attempted a sharp single. Chris Jordan was then stumped as he dozily allowed his back foot to lift, while Zander de Bruyn was undone by a bit of extra bounce and guided a catch to slip. But Hamilton-Brown responded with a ferocious counterattack. Enjoying some loose offerings from Sussex’s change bowlers, he thrashed 68 of his 89 in boundaries to ensure his side would not relinquish their advantage. Lewis Hatchett, punished for dropping short, saw his first delivery pulled for six, while Chris Nash, whose offspin is not the most intimidating of prospects, was greeted into the attack with a brace of boundaries. Hamilton-Brown also drove beautifully, with an on-drive off Amjad Khan the stroke of the day.It might have been different had James Anyon received better support. The Sussex seamer generated impressive pace, breaking Hamilton-Brown’s helmet with one sharp bouncer, and finding lift in the sluggish surface that others could not. He also kept charging in – his first spell was 11 overs – and, as the light failed (play was eventually curtailed by about half-an-hour despite the floodlights) he looked a hostile prospect. When he was out of the attack, however, Surrey feasted. Hamilton-Brown added 136 in 27.4 overs with Tom Maynard, with the latter happy to play the supporting role but again driving sweetly. It was, perhaps, fitting though that Hamilton-Brown should fall to a top-edged pull – the victim of a wonderful catch by Murray Goodwin running back from midwicket. Surrey are a side that will live, and die, by the sword. They are going to make for entertaining viewing.Hamilton-Brown and Maynard’s departures precipitated another collapse – Surrey lost 4 for 19 before bad light intervened but they still hold the upper hand.”It’s early season and guys are not used to batting for long periods,” Hamilton-Brown said afterwards. “We have batsmen up the order who graft for their runs, but we both like to put bat to ball. That is our natural game.”We’ve had a lot of opportunities throughout the game but not taken them. That’s disappointing, but if we can eke out another 20 in the morning, we’ll be in a strong position and they’ll have to bat very well to win.”Earlier Joe Gatting batted well but lacked support as Sussex surrendered a first innings deficit of 68. Anyon and Hatchett accompanied him for over an hour in adding 74 for the final two wickets, but too many men fell to cross-batted strokes when a straight bat was required. Crucially, there was no weak link in the Surrey attack and their bowlers maintained a fuller length than Sussex’s,It would be unwise to completely discount the chances of a side containing a player as gifted as Goodwin. The pitch remains better than the scores suggest and the lead – currently 318 – is not unobtainable. But Sussex will need to produce a vastly improved performance in their second innings if they are to deny Surrey their first win in the top division of the Championship since 2007.Edited by Alan Gardner
