LFC fans want Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave

A number of Liverpool supporters would be happy to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave the club following an update regarding his future.

The 28-year-old’s Reds career has been an interesting one, with highs and low dotted throughout. Oxlade-Chamberlain became a key figure in the second half of the 2017/18 season but he has arguably never been the same player since suffering cruciate ligament damage in that same period.

The former Arsenal midfielder has certainly chipped in positively at times, scoring 14 goals in 116 appearances, but injury problems and inconsistent form have held him back. Indeed, he came in for criticism from many Kopites for his performance in Sunday’s defeat at West Ham, when he lost the ball 13 times and failed to make much of an impact from midfield.

According to Goal’s Neil Jones [via Anfield Edition on Twitter], ‘there has been little sign of movement’, with regards to Oxlade-Chamberlain signing a new deal at Liverpool, adding that it may be ‘hard to see a long-term future for him on Merseyside’ if his performances don’t improve. His current contract expires in the summer of 2023.

West Ham make approach for Luca Pellegrini

As per vivoperlei.calciomercato.com, an update has emerged on the future of promising Juventus defender Luca Pellegrini and it involves West Ham United.

The Lowdown: Newman eyeing West Ham moves…

Since the official announcement of new recruitment chief Rob Newman at the London Stadium, West Ham have been linked with a plethora of new targets as a fresh transfer era at Rush Green begins.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-updates-2/” title=”West Ham updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The likes of Weston McKennie and James McAtee, two exciting young stars, have been mentioned alongside the Hammers, while reports suggest that the striker hunt is also heating up. As per a new claim from Italy, Newman now appears to have another starlet in his sights.

The Latest: Approaches made for Pellegrini…

As per vivoperlei.calciomercato.com’s information, West Ham have now ‘probed the ground several times’ for out-of-favour international Pellegrini – presumably meaning the club have made enquiries/approaches.

The 22-year-old has been a bit-part figure in Turin since signing from AS Roma in 2019, starting just one Serie A match for Juventus in that time.

He has gone out on loan to the likes of Cagliari and Genoa, even managing to earn an Italy call-up in that time, but he is now a ‘hostage to the bench’ under Massimiliano Allegri and is ‘certain’ to ‘go away on loan’.

His departure will be a temporary one in January according to the report as West Ham, and by extension recruitment chief Newman, weigh up a move for him.

The Verdict: Great Cresswell alternative?

Described as a ‘very promising, technically gifted fullback’ by journalist Zach Lowy (Twitter), his best Serie A season to date arguably came with a loan spell at Cagliari in 2019/20.

He notched five assists in 22 league starts that year and will be itching to get back to that previous form, especially if he wishes to regain the favour of Roberto Mancini at international level.

West Ham could certainly do far worse than to sign him on loan in January, especially given their lack of cover for Aaron Cresswell.

Conte green lights Kessie move

According to a report by 90min and journalist Graeme Bailey, sharing an article on his Twitter feed, it appears Antonio Conte has already green lit his first Tottenham transfer.

The Lowdown: Spurs eye Kessie…

As per recent developments, Tottenham appear heavily in the chase to land AC Milan’s star player amid his precarious contract situation at the San Siro.

His current deal expires in 2022 and club chiefs have not yet been able to tie down the 24-year-old with an extension, meaning he is free to negotiate a January pre-contract to leave as a free agent next summer.

Tottenham have been taking note as a result with reports from both La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Get Italian Football News) and Rudy Galetti suggesting it is very advanced.

While Bailey doesn’t exactly back this up, he does reiterate Tottenham and new manager Conte’s personal interest.

The Latest: Conte ‘green lights’ Kessie move…

Writing for 90min, as also shared on his Twitter, Bailey explains that Conte personally ‘green lights’ Tottenham swoops for both Kessie and Milan central defender Alessio Romagnoli – with the Italian looking set for a San Siro raid.

It is explained in his piece that Spurs sources have ‘confirmed’ that a ‘deal’ for Kessie in particular is ‘in the works’ but realise it will be a big battle to sign him.

However, the club are confident that Conte’s arrival could now push a move over the line.

The Verdict: Get it done…

Signing Kessie on a free deal would be managing director Fabio Paratici’s biggest masterstroke since bringing Conte to N17 and ushering in an exciting new era.

The four-time Serie A title-winning boss would certainly be in good company with Kessie’s possible arrival going by his exploits for Milan both last season and this season.

A mainstay under Stefano Pioli, playing in all but one of Milan’s top flight matches last year, reporter Nicky Bandini, a regular reviewer of Italian football, has also called the player ‘extraordinary’ (ESPN).

Tottenham could snap up the bargain of the century by landing Kessie on a free deal, considering his market value is around £49.5m.

This is bigger than '92 – Ramiz Raja

Following Pakistan’s eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC World Twenty20 final at Lord’s, former national captains praised the side as thousands of fans took to the streets across the country. Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq paid tribute to the spirit of the side while Ramiz Raja said this win was even better than Pakistan’s World Cup success in 1992.”We are always slow starters, but once the team started playing as a unit, I knew it would go all the way and lift the World Cup,” said Miandad, director-general of the Pakistan Cricket Board. “It’s a great achievement.”Ramiz, like Miandad and Inzamam a part of the 1992 champion squad, rated Sunday’s victory as more important than the one against England in Melbourne 17 years ago. “It’s a major turnaround in a sense that over the last six to eight months whatever has happened in Pakistan it has sent wrong messages,” he said. “Nobody was rating this team, but the way they have made a comeback there’s no example in our sporting history.”Inzamam gave the credit to Pakistan’s bowlers, who consistently did well in the tournament and kept it up in the final to keep Sri Lanka to 138. “The bowlers played a vital role in winning the tournament. Umar Gul, Afridi and Saeed Ajmal bowled superbly throughout,” he said. “It’s our second biggest achievement since winning the 1992 World Cup.”””This victory comes as a morale booster for a nation beset with political and economic problems,” said Imran Khan, under whose captaincy Pakistan lifted the 1992 World Cup.Meher Mohammad Khalil, the Pakistani driver of the Sri Lankan team bus that came under fire from terrorists in Lahore in March, was one of many fans who watched the final live on a big screen in Lahore. “We desperately needed this victory because there’s so much happening around our country,” he told the new channel . “Sri Lanka is our friend and it will remain our friend, but I wanted Pakistan to win today’s match.”Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, congratulated the team and announced an award of Rs 1 million (US$12, 300) for captain Younis Khan and Man-of-the-Match Shahid Afridi and Rs 500,000 (US$6,500) for the rest of the squad.Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani asked the country to greet the victorious Pakistan team in a befitting manner when it returns home. “I, myself will greet the team at the PM house,” he said.

Cook and Flintoff find form with the bat

Andrew Flintoff stormed back into form with 93 from 41 balls, along with two economical wickets, to help Lancashire wallop Derbyshire at Derby. Lancashire got off to a brisk start with VVS Laxman stroking 63 from 45 balls, but it was the impact of Flintoff which turned the tide. Cracking 9 fours and 6 sixes, he boosted Lancashire to the tournament’s second-highest total of the season. No Derbyshire bowler was spared the punishment, and Nantie Hayward was severely punished, conceding 52 from his four overs. Derbyshire, bottom of the table, made a good fist of the chase, as Chris Rogers and Greg Smith each cracked fifties, but Flintoff picked up 2 for 32 – both victims bowled – as Derbyshire’s pursuit ran out of steam, falling 56 runs short.

Neste ano, o time conquistou o Baiano Sub-20. O Rubro-Negro Leão retomou a hegemonia no estado, já que em 2016 o título ficou com o rival Bahia. Das sete edições desta década, o Rubro-Negro levou cinco títulos, enquanto o Bahia ficou com apenas dois.

Newcastle manager news on ten Hag

Newcastle United could now hire Erik ten Hag as their next manager, if Marc Overmars is appointed the new Director of Football (DoF) at St. James’ Park.

The North East club have been linked with the likes of Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard and Matias Almeyda in recent days, as their manager search continues following the departure of Steve Bruce.

Graeme Jones will be taking temporary charge of the next couple of games until the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium find the person that they want.

The Latest: ten Hag and Overmars combo

As per De Telegraaf (via Sport Witness), Overmars, who is currently the DoF at Ajax, would be ‘comfortable’ taking the same role on Tyneside, and ‘will poll’ ten Hag if he is appointed.

It will be interesting to see which role the new owners of the Magpies fill in first, as one could well dictate who is hired for the other.

The Verdict: Get both in

There is no doubt that a lot of the recent success Ajax have had is down to Overmars and ten Hag.

Off of the pitch, the former has been responsible for selling players for big profits and then helping rebuild with quality replacements, while ten Hag has won five major trophies during his time at the club, and famously guided them to the UEFA Champions League semi-final in the 2018/19 season.

Jurgen Klopp dubbed him as an ‘exciting’ manager back in December, which is high praise indeed, and getting both in would prove to be a real coup from the Toon.

Everton transfer news on Calvert-Lewin

Some Everton fans have been left fuming over some transfer news on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

As per The Daily Telegraph, Newcastle United are keen on signing the Goodison Park striker, while Arsenal and an unnamed club from the Bundesliga are also interested in his signature.

Manchester City and Manchester United are also believed to be a long-term admirer of his, as the race hots up to sign the former Sheffield United ace.

Of course, their talisman being linked with a move to a rival in the Premier League has upset a lot of supporters of the Merseyside club, who simply do not want to see him go, unless a monstrous offer came in.

With three goals in three games so far this season before his injury (Transfermarkt), Rafa Benitez would find it so hard to replace him.
