Neilton dá susto e deixa o treino do Botafogo mais cedo

MatériaMais Notícias

O atacante Neilton causou apreensão durante o treino do Botafogo, na manhã desta quarta-feira. O atleta sentiu dores no tornozelo direito e deixou a atividade mancando.

Leeds: Orta shows his keen eye for business with signing of Raphinha

Leeds United’s sporting director has proven his worth with the summer addition of Raphinha. Whilst the Whites have been dealing with injury problems and positive Covid-19 cases, they have been without some of their new personnel.

Diego Llorente is one example – the centre-back is still yet to feature for his new club. But two players who seem to be in friendly competition with each other are the Brazilian winger and his fellow native Rodrigo.

Raphinha shining for Leeds

The 23-year-old has had consistent game time in his debut season for the Yorkshire outfit, but he stepped up to the plate when it was needed last time out. Raphinha scored Leeds’ only goal against Everton on Saturday to shift them further up the Premier League table and brush their recent dip in form under the carpet.

Whilst it’s still early days, the winger is proving to be more of an important signing than Rodrigo so far. The striker is in competition with Patrick Bamford for the No.9 role but has been starting just behind the 27-year-old in support. As a striker, the summer signing needs to be showing his worth more or he risks being dropped by Marcelo Bielsa.

Raphinha on the other hand, is in fierce competition with fellow right-wingers Ian Poveda and Helder Costa. He is aware of the fact that the bar is high and he must fight for his place in the Leeds squad, which is absolutely what he did against Everton.

Orta snapped up the attacker for £17million from Rennes, which is a handsome amount to pay for a club like Leeds. Raphinha has shown that he is eager to make his transfer fee worth it by making his debut season one that Whites fans will be proud of as they celebrate their returning Premier League season.

Rangers: Michael Beale slams PL decision

Glasgow Rangers coach Michael Beale has called the VAR decision that overturned Patrick Bamford’s goal in the Crystal Palace vs Leeds United game “ridiculous”.

Beale hits out

The Gers coach was clearly keeping an eye on the Premier League action as the Ibrox outfit weren’t in action – Steven Gerrard’s side faced Hamilton on Sunday.

At 1-0, Bamford put the ball in the back of the opponents’ net – but his arm was judged to be offside and the goal was ruled out. Beale was clearly disgusted with the decision, saying:

“The people who changed the rules are ruining the game.

“This is ridiculous and the worst decision I’ve seen (yet!) using VAR. Nothing against Crystal Palace as I’m completely neutral – but that’s a shocking decision from the match officials.”

Not an issue in Scotland

Fortunately for Beale, such decisions are not something he has to deal with north of the border. As it stands, the Video Assistant Referee is not in play in Scotland. SPFL chief Neil Doncaster has previously said that the technology could damage the sport’s brand in Scotland.

The jury remains out on VAR. Whilst it can help referees in some cases, there appears to be too much desire to take goals away with such decisions. Hopefully, by the time VAR is introduced in Scotland, the system will have ironed out these problems.

Glasgow Rangers must get rid of Jordan Jones, he earns more than Joe Aribo

Glasgow Rangers have found themselves in a difficult position with Jordan Jones for quite some time so far this season.

Jones has hit all the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks after being hit with a seven-game ban by the SFA after breaching Covid rules.

The Northern Ireland international was once heralded as a future star by his former Middlesbrough manager Michael O’Neill.

Steven Gerrard signed Jones from Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock on a four-year pre-contract deal last year but the Rangers winger has been reprimanded by the Ibrox boss for bringing the game into disrepute.

His career seems to be in danger of going off the rails big time as he finds himself in a precarious position at the club, having last played for Rangers against Livingston in a brief cameo before the international break.

Now it transpires that he actually earns more than Joe Aribo, which we can’t quite get our heads around, as the Nigerian has been an integral part of Gerrard’s side so far this season, with a tally of four goals in eleven games to his name.

It’s fair to say that Ross Wilson simply can’t afford to keep the 25-year-old for much longer, especially when you consider the fact he has hardly featured at all for the first team so far this season, irrespective of his suspension.

Jones currently earns wages worth £9,100-per-week as per his contract despite the fact he finds himself on the fringes of the squad.

In his 19 appearances for the Gers, he has only managed to contribute one goal and two assists in all competitions, which is a pretty meagre return for a player who was once tipped to take the club to the very top.

Therefore, Wilson must cut his losses and get rid of the outcast once and for all, otherwise he will most likely be left to rot on the bench for the rest of the season.

Liverpool: Fans can’t believe their luck as Diogo Jota is set for Anfield move

Liverpool have kicked into high gear as the transfer window approaches its final couple of weeks.

Long-awaited transfer target Thiago Alcantara was finally announced on Friday after months of ongoing talks. The £20m move appeared to flick a switch in the Reds camp, as the champions have also agreed a move for Wolves’ Diogo Jota.

According to Melissa Reddy, the Portuguese forward is set to agree a five-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions. His signing will cost the club £45m but Wolves have accepted to receive an initial 10% instalment in the next 12 months.

Liverpool’s primary payment for their newest coup will see them pay just £4.5m. Youngster Ki-Jana Hoever is also set to move in opposite direction after a £13.5m move has also been agreed between the two clubs.

Many Kopites can hardly believe their luck and have flocked to the replies to Reddy’s tweet to share their excitement. One supporter has said that sporting director Michael Edwards ‘is a genius’ whilst another believes this signing could be a ‘smokescreen’ ahead of an upcoming marquee deal.

Antonio Rudiger: Shock switch could be smart business for Liverpool

Liverpool have been mooted with a shock transfer this week and it’s one they should absolutely consider going into next season…

What’s the word?

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Premier League champions have shown the most interest in Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, who could soon be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

It’s claimed that the Merseysiders are still looking for a defender to replace the recently departed Dejan Lovren and the German is in their sights.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports believe Rudiger is one of several players on the chopping block at the Blues, so it’ll be on Liverpool to make their move.

Better than Gomez

As surprising as this move would be, it would actually make quite a lot of sense as Rudiger has worked with Jurgen Klopp before at Borussia Dortmund and there’s still a healthy relationship there between the two.

Back in May 2018, the 27-year-old claimed the Reds boss was doing a “fantastic job” at Anfield and that he’s a “top coach” – he’s even praised Virgil van Dijk, who could become his new partner in crime in due course.

“If you saw before Liverpool was almost conceding almost every game and since he went there, it has gone better.”

It seems rather perplexing that the 6 foot 3 powerhouse is available for transfer, particularly as he’s outperformed Joe Gomez this season.

Per WhoScored, the £36m-rated centre-back averaged more tackles (1.4), clearances (2.8) and aerial duels won (2.9) than the Englishman and he even appears to be a better fit for playing out from the back.

Rudiger manages more key passes, long balls and passes per game than Gomez. He could well flourish next to VVD if he were to swap London for Merseyside.

He was also part of the Chelsea side that silenced the Reds in the FA Cup. Rudiger and co kept a clean sheet against Sadio Mane, which is rather impressive considering he bagged 22 times this year.

If the finances are right, then Klopp should push to sign his fellow countryman at all costs.

West Ham: Fans react to David Moyes’ thoughts on relegation battle

A lot of the West Ham fan base are not happy at David Moyes for his latest comments following the side’s 2-0 loss to Wolves on the weekend.

The Hammers now sit 17th and level on points with AFC Bournemouth in 18th, with Aston Villa in 19th only one point behind them, per BBC Sport.

Moyes’ side have to play Villa on the last day of the season, and Moyes spoke about how crucial this game might be in deciding the final relegation outcome.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I’ve always felt it was going to be tight, I always thought it might possibly go to the last game. But we’ve been here before, many of us have done it before.”

Fans of the East London side expected a better campaign from the club, given they spent some serious money to bring in the likes of Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals last summer (Transfermarkt).

But it has not gone as planned and these latest comments by the manager have understandably not gone down well with the fan base as it seems like he is just accepting that the his side are likely to still be fighting for their lives come the final day.

Here is what they said following the comments, with one or two labelling Moyes a “clown”:

Hammers fans, can you believe Moyes has said this? Comment below!

The Racecourse Ground

Key Information about The Racecourse Ground

The Racecourse Ground is the world’s oldest international football stadium which still hosts international matches.

It opened back in 1807, and has been used for football since 1864 with Wrexham Football Club moving in after being founded during the same year. The Racecourse Ground has hosted the most Wales international matches out of any other ground in the Country, and it is the largest stadium in north Wales with a capacity of 10,771.

The infamous ground is divided into four famous stands; the Kop, Bkoncepts Stand, University End, and Hays Travel Stand.

A history of The Racecourse Ground

Since being formed in the local Turf Hotel public house in October 1864, Wrexham Football Club have played all of their home matches at The Racecourse Ground, with the exception of a couple of seasons in the late 1880s. The concrete terracing on the Kop end was laid down in 1952 and it is the oldest part of the ground to this day. Five years later in 1957,

The Racecourse Ground witnessed a record attendance of 34,445 as fans gathered to watch Wrexham take on Manchester United in an FA Cup Fourth Round tie. Two years later on 30 September 1959, floodlights were installed at the ground for the first time which meant that Wrexham could now host night-time fixtures in darker conditions.

In 2002, then Wrexham FC chairman William Pryce Griffiths agreed a 125-year lease on the Racecourse with Wolverhampton Dudley Breweries for just £750,000. Soon after in 2005, the club hosted a second-leg UEFA Champions League qualifier between TNS and Liverpool, where Steven Gerrard famously scored five goals over both legs of the tie.

On 26 June 2002, the freehold to The Racecourse Ground was acquired by Wrexham AFC from Wolverhampton Dudley Breweries for £300,000, and on the same day the ownership of the freehold was transferred to another one of chairman, Alex Hamilton’s companies – Damens Ltd.

In spring 2014, work commenced on redeveloping The Racecourse Ground, and this included a new pitch and sprinkler system and changing rooms for players. In addition to this the medical and treatment facilities were also upgraded along with enhanced floodlights and the removal of camber lights at the Kop end.

This now meant that the stadium had been reclassified to Category 3 level, which entitles it to host international football matches once again. In August 2016, Wrexham Glyndwr University and Wrexham AFC signed a 99-year The Racecourse Ground stadium lease, as the university had previously purchased the landmark in 2011 to prevent it from extinction.

Tickets to Watch Wrexham at The Racecourse Ground

Adult ticket prices are ranged from £16-20, concessions at £7-15, and under-11s can attend a match for just £1. Current adult season ticket prices stand at £182-322 for all members of the club.
