Gareth Rees and Michael Powell both struck half-centuries as Glamorgan batted out for a draw on the final day of their County Championship clash against Surrey at Cardiff. At the start of play Surrey still had hopes of registering a win and were able to enforce the follow-on, but Rees and Powell frustrated them for nearly two and a half hours in a third-wicket stand of 129 in 42 overs.Surrey had to make do with nine points to Glamorgan’s eight.Glamorgan went into the final day looking to knock off the 49 runs required to save the follow-on, but survived just 6.1 overs. After resuming on 377 for 9, the home side scored 18 runs until Dean Cosker was bowled by Stuart Meaker, who claimed figures of 5 for 86.James Harris was left stranded on 43 to end a last-wicket stand of 38, leaving Glamorgan 31 runs short of the follow-on target of 426.Forced to bat again, they needed 181 to avoid an innings defeat and had to bat 87 overs to survive and secure a draw. They did not make the best of starts when captain Alviro Petersen fell tospinner Gareth Batty in the 15th over, edging to Zander de Bruyn at leg slip to leave Glamorgan 40 for 1. And that became 44 for 2 when Will Bragg fell for two from Chris Schofield’s first ball.Rees and Powell survived until lunch with the home side still 136 runs adrift, and continued their resilient stand for the whole of the afternoon session. Rees brought up his fifty in 109 balls with six fours, while Powell, who was in desperate need of runs after a barren start to the season, showed positive intent typified by a superb straight six over long-on from Gareth Batty before reaching his 50 in 79 balls.Surrey effectively gave up the pursuit for victory with captain RoryHamilton-Brown bringing himself and then Tom Maynard into the attack beforetea. After the interval Powell suffered cramp in his forearm and shortly afterwards chipped Batty to Rory Burns, the substitute fielder, at mid-wicket. It ended a stand of 129 in 42 overs with Rees, who in the final over skied a catch to Hamilton-Brown at slip off Batty. Shortly afterwards the players shook hands on a draw.

Gibson praises Bishoo's composure

West Indies coach Ottis Gibson has praised the composure shown by legspinner Devendra Bishoo, who picked up four wickets on Test debut

ESPNcricinfo staff14-May-2011West Indies coach Ottis Gibson has praised the composure shown by legspinner Devendra Bishoo, who picked up four wickets on Test debut, as Pakistan were bowled out for 160 in their first innings in Guyana.”Judging from his debut in World Cup a few months back he has showed signs of being a very intelligent bowler,” Ottis said. “He showed he has the ability to handle himself when he’s put under pressure and that’s a very good sign.”He only had 226 to bowl at but he didn’t show any nerves. He has been very adaptable and handled the situation very well. Today, Umar Akmal came at him quite hard and he responded very well. He varied his pace and demonstrated he knows exactly what he’s doing.”Bishoo, who was the highest wicket-taker for his side with figures of 4 for 60, said his focus had been on getting the ball “in the right areas”. “I tried to stick to what I normally do,” Bishoo said. “I came here today and I knew once I got the ball in the right areas I would get some wickets.”When I came on to bowl I didn’t look too far ahead. I concentrated on what I wanted to do with each ball and how I would attack each batsman. I got a lot of support from the guys on the field and everyone in the dressing room. It was also good the crowd was behind me.”Bishoo, who was the highest wicket-taker for West Indies in the ODI series, said the wicket of opposition captain Misban-ul-Haq, who became his first Test victim, lbw for 2, set the tone for him for the rest of the innings.”My first wicket was a relief,” Bishoo said. “I knew I got him ‘dead’ in front. He’s the main batsman so to get him so early on was a great feeling. The team needed me to come in and do the job at that stage and I was happy I delivered.” Bishoo’s other three victims were Asad Shafiq, Akmal and Mohammad Salman. The hosts ended the second day on 34 for 2, giving them an overall lead of 100 runs.

New SA coach likely to be named on June 6

South Africa have completed the interview process to appoint a new national coach

Firdose Moonda17-May-2011Cricket South Africa (CSA) is likely to announce the new national coach on June 6. A specially appointed CSA panel met the candidates in Johannesburg on Monday and will discuss the appointment on Tuesday. The interview committee includes CSA chief executive Gerald Majola, outgoing coach Corrie van Zyl, cricket committee chairperson Andy O’Connor, players’ association representative Boeta Dippenaar, convenor of selectors Andrew Hudson and Professor Johann Coetzee, a human development expert. “The panel will meet today [Tuesday] to have a discussion around the interviews that were conducted,” a source told ESPNCricinfo.CSA has not revealed the names on the shortlist, which it had initially said consisted of six names. The only clues as to who might be in the running came from the interview venue, a hotel in the upmarket suburb of Sandton. Gary Kirsten, widely considered to be the frontrunner for the job, and former Pakistan coach Richard Pybus were seen there. According to the source, all interviews were conducted in person.Kirsten has just returned from a two-year stint in India, during which India climbed to the top of the Test rankings, and culminated in the winning of the World Cup. He has indicated that he would like to spend more time with his family in South Africa and with a third child due in November, it remains to be seen how much travel Kirsten would be willing to do.Pybus is currently in charge of the Cape Town based Cobras franchise and was previously involved with the Titans. He has been involved with South African cricket since 2003 and is widely acclaimed for his innovative and creative coaching methods.Duncan Fletcher and John Buchanan, who were believed to be on the shortlist, accepted positions in India and New Zealand respectively, before the interview process began. Others reportedly in contention for the job are Tom Moody, Stephen Fleming and Vincent Barnes.

Somerset charge past limp Surrey

Surrey slumped to the fourth defeat of their Twenty20 campaign against a rampant Somerset at The Oval, limping to 131 for 8 in pursuit of the visitors’ 169 for 7

Jason Roy’s promising innings was cut short by a stumping•PA PhotosSurrey slumped to the fourth defeat of their Twenty20 campaign against a rampant Somerset at The Oval, limping to 131 for 8 in pursuit of the visitors’ 169 for 7. A typically explosive start from Marcus Trescothick set the platform for James Hildreth’s fluent fifty, and a slick all-round performance from Somerset’s bowling attack meant Surrey were never able to launch a full assault on the target.Trescothick, who is the competition’s leading runscorer by some distance, continued his rich vein of form to put together an opening stand of 58 in five overs with a far more subdued Peter Trego. He slammed three fours and a six in the first five balls of Yasir Arafat’s second over to motor to 35 from just 16 deliveries, but was then clean bowled heaving at the sixth to give Surrey some respite.Zafar Ansari’s introduction in the seventh over tempered Somerset even further, as he conceded just three runs from his first six deliveries and generally denied the batsmen the opportunity to score. The frustration eventually got to Trego, who ran past a flighted delivery to be stumped for a run-a-ball 27.Jos Buttler gave a teasing taster of his talent in a short cameo that included some audacious shots before getting a thin edge on a bouncer from Stuart Meaker, who used the short ball to good effect to get rid of a threatening Kieron Pollard two overs later. Somerset had passed 160 by that stage, however, and although Dirk Nannes returned to shatter Craig Meschede’s stumps and ensure there would be no late boost the total was already a formidable one.It looked all the more so when Lewis Gregory trapped a subdued Rory Hamilton-Brown in front of his stumps for 1 from seven deliveries to mute what had already been a lacklustre start to the chase by Surrey. An impregnable off-side field cut down Steve Davies’ scoring options as he managed just 22 from 20 balls before holing out to legspinner Max Waller, and though Jason Roy managed to keep the innings afloat wickets fell at regular intervals. This match was played on the same strip as that used in England’s one-day international against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, but where the spinners were generally expensive in that game, tonight they were frugal and incisive. After Waller’s impressive start, Arul Suppiah’s left-arm spin got past Tom Maynard, Roy and Matthew Spriegel in successive overs as Surrey’s innings was completely derailed at 70 for 5 in the 12th over.Waller had a desperate Zander de Bruyn stumped by a distance soon afterwards, and some bright hitting from Arafat did little to brighten the mood of a decently large Oval crowd. Ansari showed that he has talent with bat as well as ball in an enterprising 24, but by then the game was dead and Somerset’s fifth Twenty20 win of the season was assured. The two points they earned took them up to second in the Points Table behind Hampshire.

Di Venuto ton rescues Durham

Michael Di Venuto’s 132 held Durham together as the County Championship leaders reached 272 for 7 on the first day against Nottinghamshire at Chester-le-Street.On a day when 23 overs were lost to rain only 55 runs had come off the bat at the other end when Di Venuto reached his third century of the season off 139 balls. But with Andre Adams taking four wickets to boost his season tally to 49, Durham were rocking on 197 for 6, prompting Di Venuto to drop anchor in the final session. He had all but survived it when he played back and edged Steven Mullaney to wicketkeeper Chris Read in the penultimate over. With Ben Stokes returning to four-day action in place of the injured Steve Harmison, Durham had opted for the extra batsman and had skipper Phil Mustard going in at number eight. He survived a streaky start to contribute 45 to his stand of 74 with Di Venuto and was still there on 46 at the close. Durham won the toss for the 11th time in 12 championship games and chose to bat, despite the sultry heat providing good conditions for swing bowling.New-ball pair Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck posed little threat as Di Venuto and Will Smith put on 54. But Smith made only 13 of those against his former colleagues before lifting Pattinson to long leg.Gordon Muchall survived a big lbw appeal from Pattinson off his first ball, and although he put away several bad balls, notably from Paul Franks, he struggled against Adams, who bowled him for 30. In his next over Adams had Paul Collingwood caught behind for a duck as the ex-England batsman tried to withdraw his bat.Dale Benkenstein contributed only 12 to a fourth-wicket stand of 54 before a thick edge off a forcing back-foot shot was well held by Mullaney at gully. Stokes was shaping to play through mid-wicket when he was adjudged lbw to Franks during an improved spell after tea, then Ian Blackwell edged a drive at Adams and was smartly held by Adam Voges.Mustard survived a difficult chance to Pattinson at mid-on off Shreck on 30, and if he can add a few more he will be confident of success against a team who propose to open the batting with a pair of debutants. One is Karl Turner, who made his Durham Academy debut in 2004 and became a second-team regular before being released at the end of last season. The other is Sam Kelsall, from Stoke, who has been playing for England Under 19s recently.

Bradshaw stands down as MCC secretary

Keith Bradshaw, the former Tasmania cricketer who became the first Australian secretary and chief executive of MCC, has announced he will returning home for personal reasons after almost five years in the job

ESPNcricinfo staff24-Aug-2011Keith Bradshaw, the former Tasmania cricketer who became the first Australian secretary and chief executive of MCC, has announced he will be returning home for personal reasons after almost five years in the job.Bradshaw, who became the club’s 14th secretary when he joined in October 2006, played a key role in transforming the reputation of MCC, and on his watch the club has become one of the most progressive voices in world cricket.Key initiatives have included the promotion of floodlit first-class cricket, through the development of a revolutionary pink ball that can be sighted against the night sky. The traditional curtain-raiser to the English season, MCC v Champion County, was in 2010 moved from Lord’s to Abu Dhabi to help test the concept in a competitive environment. In addition, the MCC Spirit of Cricket message has been widely promoted around the world – through a partnership with the Indian Premier League, as well as MCC’s first sponsorship of international cricket, the neutral Test series between Pakistan and Australia, which was hosted at Lord’s and Headingley last summer. Also, funds were provided for numerous cricket projects around the world – such as in Afghanistan – and the MCC World Cricket Committee established itself as an influential voice in the world game.”It is with considerable regret that the MCC Committee has accepted the resignation of Keith Bradshaw, confirmed Christopher Martin-Jenkins, the club chairman. “From his first day as secretary and chief executive, Keith has been a breath of fresh air at Lord’s and he has made an outstanding contribution towards the high standing and role of the club both domestically and internationally.”His open and positive attitude has been infectious to all those around him and he can be very proud of his numerous achievements at MCC. During his time here, Lord’s has come to be seen not just as the home of cricket but as a welcoming place to all who love the game.”We are very sorry that changing family circumstances have led him to decide he must return to Australia but the committee completely understands and respects Keith’s reasons. I shall shortly be writing to all members of the club with further details but suffice it to say he will be much missed by all of us at MCC and we wish him well for a successful future back in Australia.”Bradshaw said: “Following the recent loss of my mother, I am returning to Australia for family reasons. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club working with the committee, members, staff and the many cricket bodies around the world. My five years at Lord’s have been very special and I will leave with many treasured memories; it has been a great honour and privilege to serve the club.”I have no doubt that MCC will continue to go from strength to strength as an innovative, independent voice in world cricket, which guards the Laws and Spirit of Cricket with great knowledge and passion. I will be proud to wear the Club tie down under and I look forward to returning to Lord’s – the best ground in the world – in the years to come.”Bradshaw will hand over his duties in October and will continue to be available in an advisory capacity until the end of the year. Colin Maynard, the current deputy secretary, will serve as acting secretary & chief executive. The committee will now look to appoint an international executive search firm to find Bradshaw’s successor. A small group of committee members will co-ordinate this process. Led by Oliver Stocken (MCC Chairman), the group will also include Christopher Martin-Jenkins (President), Justin Dowley (Treasurer), Phillip Hodson (President Designate), Anthony Wreford (Trustee) and Mike Griffith (Chairman of Cricket).

Gayle meets board chief but future remains unclear

Chris Gayle and WICB chief Ernest Hilaire have met in an attempt to resolve issues that are keeping the opener out of international cricket

ESPNcricinfo staff25-Aug-2011Chris Gayle, the West Indies batsman, and WICB chief Ernest Hilaire have held a one-on-one meeting in an attempt to resolve issues that are keeping the opener out of international cricket. Though there was no major breakthrough in the hour-long discussion at the WICB head office in Antigua on Tuesday, it was still a step forward from the acrimonious meeting in June that worsened relations between the two sides.Hilaire, the board CEO, was cautious when asked about how the meeting went. “We took a decision yesterday not to discuss the matter that is currently in front of us while it is still unresolved,” Hilaire told . “What I can tell you is that we had a frank and excellent discussion.”Relations between Gayle and the board reached breaking point after he gave an interview in April to a radio station during which he was scathing about both the board and coach Ottis Gibson. The Gayle-WICB standoff was sparked off when Gibson criticised senior batsmen following the team’s quarter-final exit at the World Cup. Gayle was subsequently ignored for the home series against Pakistan, after which he travelled to India to participate in the IPL – where he was the player of the tournament – while the WICB were under the impression he was undergoing rehabilitation. The heated meeting in June with West Indies Players’ Association representatives present didn’t resolve the problem, and Gayle released an emotional public statement in July explaining his stance. The CARICOM heads of government have also given a commitment to mediate in the dispute.

Tim Paine set for surgery on finger

Tim Paine has been ruled out of Australia’s tour of South Africa next month due to a finger injury, which is likely to open the door for Matthew Wade to make his international debut

ESPNcricinfo staff26-Sep-2011Tim Paine has been ruled out of Australia’s tour of South Africa next month due to a finger injury, which is likely to open the door for Matthew Wade to make his international debut. Paine will have surgery later this week following a slower than expected recovery after he hurt his right index finger while batting at a Tasmania training session a month ago.The decision for Paine to have an operation means that Australia will need to find a new wicketkeeper for the two Twenty20s against South Africa on October 13 and 16 in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Brad Haddin last week announced his retirement from Twenty20 internationals, which is likely to make Wade the favourite for a national call-up.Wade, 23, has played for Australia A over the past 18 months and was productive for Victoria last summer, when he finished second behind Brad Hodge on the Ryobi Cup run tally and also score 553 Sheffield Shield runs. It would be a major surprise if Wade was not chosen, with Chris Hartley having hardly been used in T20 by Queensland over the past two seasons, and Western Australia’s Luke Ronchi having slipped down the pecking order. And while the T20s in South Africa are the immediate opportunity, there could be further chances to provide backup for Haddin in one-day or Test cricket, depending on how long Paine is sidelined. Australia’s physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris, said Paine was still experiencing significant discomfort a month after sustaining the injury.”Tim Paine injured his right index finger batting at training with his Tasmanian state team four weeks ago,” Kountouris said. “He sustained a fracture in a similar part of the same finger late last year and required surgery. Tim has been resting the injury in recent weeks but is still experiencing considerable pain.”His surgeon has advised that the fracture is healing slower than expected and may not heal without surgical intervention. As such, Tim will be undergoing surgery later this week. He is likely to need an extended recovery period following surgery and will not be available for selection for the T20 and ODI tour of South Africa.”Paine is not the only one of Australia’s contracted players set for surgery, with the allrounder John Hastings likely to have an operation on his right shoulder. Hastings suffered the injury while training with Victoria and he too will be out of action for the T20 and one-day series in South Africa.”John Hastings injured his right shoulder during a training session with Cricket Victoria after returning from Australian duties in Sri Lanka,” Kountouris said. “He has had ongoing shoulder pain since this incident and has been unable to return to training. He has consulted a surgeon who has recommended surgery.”It is possible that he will have surgery sometime in the next week after further assessment from the surgeon. His return to cricket will be dependent on the management approach pursued but he will not be available for selection for the T20 and ODI tour of South Africa.”

Shehzad ton takes HBL to victory

A round-up of the action from the fourth day of the second round of Division One matches of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

ESPNcricinfo staff15-Oct-2011Ahmed Shehzad scored a sparkling century to help Habib Bank Limited clinch a three-wicket win over Abbottabad while chasing 368 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. HBL began the day with all ten wickets intact and Shehzad approached the task with aggression, smashing 161 in 162 balls, including 26 fours and a six. He added a decisive 234 for the opening wicket with Shan Masood, who was the calmer, more sedate of the two partners. Their stand set up the foundation for a win. Abbottabad, however, made inroads and would have sensed the possibility of a victory at 337 for 7. But Hasan Raza remained unbeaten on 36 while Danish Kaneria made an quickfire 32 to help his team seal victory.Water and Power Development Authority completed the formalities on the final day, beating Faisalabad by seven wickets at the Sports Stadium in Sargodha. They had been resting easy at 205 for 3 overnight, chasing 260, and Aamer Sajjad and captain Naved-ul-Hasan ensured there was no damage done, seeing their team through to victory. The contest between National Bank of Pakistan and Islamabad ended in a thrilling draw at the Diamond Club Ground. NBP were set 303 to win and the game was there for the taking after Khurram Manzoor and Nasir Jamshed added 192 for the opening wicket. Khurram made 107 and Jamshed contributed 85 off 122 balls. But thereafter, the innings began to slide. Afaq Raheem’s offspinners played a decisive role, as he picked up six wickets to undermine the foundation laid by the opening stand. NBP lost wickets at regular intervals and slipped to 259 for 8, with Islamabad sensing a win now. But Raza Hasan and Uzair-ul-Haq batted cautiously through to the finish. In the end, NBP finished with 287 for 8; they’ll undoubtedly regret not taking advantage of that opening stand.Karachi Blues didn’t take long to beat Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited at the National Stadium in Karachi. ZTBL had been reeling at 174 for 6 after following on and the Karachi bowlers polished off the tail, taking just eight overs to capture the remaining four wickets. Seamer Mohammad Sami finished with a five-for, while Tariq Haroon took 4 for 51. Karachi were victors by an innings and 112 runs.Rawalpindi had an excellent chance of clinching victory against Pakistan International Airlines at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, but fell short by 18 runs and had to settle for a draw. PIA had enjoyed the better of the contest for three days but they came close to losing on the fourth. From 185 for 2 overnight, they slipped to 229 for 8 in search of quick runs and declared, setting Rawalpindi a target of 354 in 71 overs. Nasir Malik picked up five wickets. In the chase, opener Naved Malik led the way with 139 and though Rawalpindi seemed to be losing their way, reduced to 124 for 4 at one stage, they fought back superbly. Adnan Mufti blasted 57 off 39 balls to add 122 in quick time with Naved, and took Rawalpindi closer to the target. Mohammad Rameez then came in and finished unbeaten on 59, off 44 balls, including five fours and two sixes. However, the acceleration came a little late as Rawalpindi couldn’t reach the target in the allotted number of overs.State Bank of Pakistan ensured their contest against Sialkot at the Jinnah Stadium ended in a draw. SBP would have begun the day thinking of a draw as they were only 36 runs ahead overnight. A five-wicket haul from Prince Abbas threatened to upset their plans but a collective batting effort in the end, with much-needed support from the lower order, helped them save the game. Rameez Raja chipped in with 42 while the rest of the top and middle orders got starts. However, the team was still in some trouble at 126 for 6. But Gulraiz Sadaf ended any Sialkot hopes of a surprise win, batting determinedly for his unbeaten 72 with support from Rizwan Haider. SBP were eventually bowled out for 220, Sialkot could only bat five overs in the fourth innings.

Weakened India still tough to beat

ESPNcricinfo previews the first one-dayer between India and West Indies in Cuttack

The Preview by Siddarth Ravindran28-Nov-2011Match factsTuesday, November 29
Start time 1430 (0900 GMT)Virender Sehwag and Duncan Fletcher have to guide a relatively youthful Indian side•AFPBig PictureIndia’s previous home one-dayer took place in front of a sparse crowd at the Eden Gardens, reinforcing fears over the quantity of cricket being played, but with Tuesday’s match taking place at the smaller cricketing centre of Cuttack, a jam-packed stadium is expected. Even though the the biggest crowd-pullers like MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar are missing, tickets sales at the Barabati Stadium have been brisk, and even the practice sessions drew plenty of spectators.A full-strength India would be expected to roll over West Indies at home, but they are missing at least four of their headliners. In addition, they have lost the most experienced bowler in their squad, Praveen Kumar – he was ruled out of the first three one-dayers with an injury. That means the most seasoned of the quicks is Vinay Kumar, all of 11 one-dayers old, giving the stand-in captain Virender Sehwag something of a challenge.India are also missing two of their finishers, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, giving the likes of Rohit Sharma an audition for a permanent place in the hugely competitive middle order.Despite India facing these hurdles, Darren Sammy has no illusions of the task ahead of his team, calling the series a “very, very tough challenge”. Australia are the only team to have won a one-day series in India since April 2005. West Indies are boosted by the arrival of Kieron Pollard, an impact player who can quickly transform matches, and Lendl Simmons, their most consistent one-day batsman of the year. Sunil Narine, the unconventional Trinidad & Tobago offspinner whose variations mystified batsmen in the Champions League T20, could also pose problems in his first outing in international cricket.Form guideIndia WWWWW (Most recent first)
West Indies LWWWWWatch out for…Kieron Pollard has long had an uneasy relationship with the West Indies board, and despite his superstar status in the Twenty20 format, West Indies don’t consider him for selection. That leaves the one-day format as his only platform for international cricket. And, worryingly for him, if there’s one thing West Indies cricket have in abundance, it’s medium-pace bowling, big-hitting allrounders. Darren Sammy is, obviously, an automatic pick, Andre Russell has displayed his talent this year, and Dwayne Bravo could also be a contender as and when fit.Ravindra Jadeja was a deeply unpopular figure towards the end of 2010, but has won over some of the critics with his performances in the home-and-away series against England. Two Man of the Match awards and a bagful of wickets have secured his place in the XI for the current series, but he needs to extend that run. If Yuvraj Singh returns for the Australia tour, India could be tempted to go back to their World Cup-winning formula of seven-batsmen and four-bowlers, which could squeeze Jadeja out of the XI.Pitch and conditionsThe last time these two teams faced off at the Barabati Stadium was nearly five years ago, when India managed to defend 189. This time, though, it is expected to be a high-scoring match, as most ODIs in India usually are. “There will be plenty of runs for the batsmen,” the curator Pankaj Patnaik said. “I am not ruling out a total of 300. Bowlers will get good bounce and there will be a little turn for spinners.” Dew is expected to play a role, though a chemical spray will be regularly used to reduce its impact.Team newsThe absence of Dhoni means Parthiv Patel will have to be picked, dimming the chances of Ajinkya Rahane getting a game early in the series. Rohit Sharma, returning after a finger injury sidelined him during the England tour, is likely to get the nod ahead of Manoj Tiwary for a place in the middle order. The injury to Praveen could allow India play both their rookie quick bowlers, Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron.India (probable) 1 Virender Sehwag (capt), 2 Parthiv Patel (wk), 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 Rohit Sharma, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Vinay Kumar, 10 Varun Aaron , 11 Umesh YadavWest Indies (probable) 1 Adrian Barath, 2 Lendl Simmons, 3 Marlon Samuels, 4 Darren Bravo, 5 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 6 Kieron Pollard, 7 Andre Russell, 8 Darren Sammy (capt), 9 Ravi Rampaul, 10 Kemar Roach, 11 Sunil NarineStats and trivia India have won their previous nine one-dayers at home. Their last defeat was against South Africa in the league phase of the World Cup.
West Indies are tied with Australia as the team with the most ODI wins over India in India.Lendl Simmons has one hundred and seven half-centuries in 12 one-day innings in 2011.Quotes”Fitness-wise, we are stronger as a team. The batsmen are showing signs that they can bat for long periods. Most of all, we are showing a fighting spirit.”

“They are very good bowlers, youngsters who need to learn a lot. They are on the right track, and with coach Eric Simons they are doing a great job.”
